The reward of KYRA in Greece
1/8/2005

It is always pleasant to win an award even though we abstain from glamour, colorful galas and fancy receptions due to our personalities since we have chosen a low profile to accompany us in our lives.(It is important for the manager!)
After the award that was given to Nick and to our unit from Austria (1998) and the praise from the Municipality of Sipiada for the conservation of the local architectural style (2003), the “ Artemis” Friends of Nature Society gave us an honoring plaque for our “ genuine friendly approach to the environment” and our “concern for the protection of the ecosystem” in our place…

In any case, from the beginning, we never interfered to the landscape for not distorting the obvious. It is self-evident and from the beginning  expected for anyone who chooses to spend his vacations in Pelion to have a complete “embracement “ with nature and a “psychi” identification with the landscape’s serenity…

“ Sometimes you win more if you humbly withdraw to the sidelines and you loose when you try to control the «Word» of Mother Nature”
Lao Ce

Although we followed a similar course with that of Vangelis Papathanasiou (first the recognition from abroad and after from Greece) Thank you. We enjoyed it immensely!

Anyways, the “best prize” for us is to see people to have a good time in our unit, charge their batteries with high mood, to maintain the institution of the traditional –warm Greek hospitality and to receive feedback from their smile…

Ceramics’ seminars at Pelion
2/4/2005

We finally realized that we share common aesthetics and similar point of view with Elias’  Ceramics laboratory ”…

After our successful cooperation for the decoration of the outdoors and since our Mediterranean style was an appealing environment for his  “curved” purple pots,  Elias asked us if can shelter his school for 2 weeks per year here that is suitable for, the natural place of the Ceramics, Pelion, the “mountain of Jars”…

Indeed, the jars are an integral part of the local architecture and they always have their own place in the local traditional yards. They also served a storage and decorative purpose in all eras. Form the Palace of Iolkos (Bolos) up to the “cellars” of the mansions of Zagora…

They are along with the tiled pavements, the painter Theophilus and the loom made woven, the absolute trademark of the area’s artistic image…

In October Elias is giving open seminars for KYRA’S customers where you can participate and explore your talent of touch, of your hands and the sense of ‘touching”…

In the picture below, after my successful effort to get him drunk with genuine local raki, we negotiate the details with “bate” the view of the Milina village…

He had already earned the first prize for Greece in Poland.
